Ephesians 6:15 — JUST DO IT

READ THIS: Ephesians 6:15

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

*REMINDER* We are going to be going over the armor of God for the next few days... piece by piece! We will be showing all the verses for the section each day, but we really want you to focus on the part in bold each day!

Back in the Biblical days, Roman soldiers would wear sandals as part of their uniform. This allowed them to travel anywhere they wanted and move quickly when in battle. Paul uses this Roman uniform item to explain how we must be ready for spiritual combat. Our shoes allow us to travel wherever we need to go. Without shoes, we become limited. For example, you can easily walk across grass without shoes. But what if you wanted to cross a bunch of sharp rocks?

Just like in our everyday life, we face challenges that may limit us if we are not equipped for them. One of our biggest challenges in today's world is the stress we have to deal with. If we prepare ourselves with peace, then we can handle any challenge in our path. Furthermore, we can also help others going through spiritual combat. We take our shoes everywhere we go, and we must do the same with the Gospel.

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Reflect on your successes and failures. How has your preparation and readiness affected whether you were successful or not?

2. How can you start implementing the gospel of peace in your own life, wherever you go?

TRY THIS:

Whenever you put on your shoes this week, remember to also ready yourself with the gospel of peace. It can serve as a reminder for you to combat any challenge. God has given you the tools and capabilities to be successful!

Comments

  1. I have a friend who is always complaining. I am going to challenge us to only say positive things that bring life for one week and see how that affects us and others around us.
