READ THIS: Esther 10:1-3
1 King Xerxes imposed tribute throughout the empire, to its distant shores. 2 And all his acts of power and might, together with a full account of the greatness of Mordecai, whom the king had promoted, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Media and Persia? 3 Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.
WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?
YOU DID IT!! WE ARE DONE WITH ESTHER! WOOHOO!
The book of Esther ends with a pretty cool summary of how things ultimately played out for Mordecai! After all of these events were completed, Mordecai found himself not only alive in well, but also promoted. By the time this book was written, we see that Mordecai is now second in rank to the king himself (basically taking over Haman’s original position) and held in high regard by his own people. He led in a way that Haman should have, working for the good of those he served, not simply working for his own good like Haman was known for doing.
What is so cool about all this is that Mordecai NEVER asked for these positions. We don’t ever see Mordecai showing any sign of seeking to elevate himself up the social/political ladder, which was very common among people at this time. While so many others, such as Haman, lived their whole lives consumed with the idea of moving himself up in the world, Mordecai spent his life focused on serving others, and because of that, he was elevated to the highest position he could have ever been in!
WE ARE TAKING A SHORT BREAK! WE WILL SEND OUT MESSAGES ON REMIND WITH A NEW START DATE!
THINK ABOUT IT:
1. What other passages in the Bible remind you of Mordecai’s way of living here? Where else can you see someone humbling themselves and serving others willingly?
2. Think about your own life and your own influence... What would it look like for you to work for the good of the people around you?
TRY THIS:
When I wrote question 1, Philippians 2:5-11 was in my head! Read this passage, then re-read verse 5… think about how you can serve others in your relationships like Jesus did for us!
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death — even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
SONG OF THE WEEK:
The song of the week this week talks about how God has already claimed us victory. This was done because Jesus, like Mordecai in this passage, humbly gave Himself up for us! Check it out on

For certain, Jesus’ life was completely dedicated to serving others! Martha was a servant of others. Mary’s life was dedicated to serving her son.
