Ephesians 4:8-10 — Love Knows No Bounds

READ THIS: Ephesians 4:8-10

8 This is why it says: “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.” 9 (What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

Paul quotes a Psalm in this chapter, specifically Psalm 68:18!

In this reference, Paul reminds us that Jesus descended into the earthly regions, but also ascended in the heavens. He came down to us humbly as a human and lived here on earth with us. When He died for us on the cross, He took on all of our sin and descended into the depths of hell on our behalf. Then, he conquered death and the grave forever and rose from the dead, living here on earth with people once again until he ascended into heaven. And now, we wait patiently for Christ to come back to us on earth! This passage reminds us that Jesus's love covers every place, whether it is in heaven or on earth.

Romans 8:38-39 says, "38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Have you ever felt like you were too far away or too far gone for Jesus's love?

2. How can you learn to love those around you unconditionally (no matter what)?

TRY THIS:

Write "Jesus loves you" somewhere that you will see it a bunch this week, and every time you see it, remind yourself that you are never too far away from God's love!

Comments

  1. I am thankful that I can never too far from His Love, because I surely don’t deserve it.
