Ephesians 4:4-7 — We are ~one~

READ THIS: Ephesians 4:4-7

4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7 But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

One of the ways we talked about loving others yesterday was through seeking after peace. Specifically, peace comes through unity. Everyone who believes in Jesus has the ability to have peace with other believers because through Jesus we are united. It's kind of like Simon Says! When we are all looking at Simon, we all end up doing the same things. The people who aren't looking at Simon are the ones who aren't united with us...If we're doing it right, Christians will all be looking at the best Simon ever, God, and we will all be able to move together!

Another thing that helps us be united is the fact that we know that EACH of us has been given the same grace. Jesus died for everyone and granted us eternal life with Him starting now, and the minute we accept that grace for ourselves, we know that anyone else can accept that grace as well. There is no one too far away from God, so any one around us can be our brother/sister in Christ.

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. How come we can be united with people who believe in Jesus?

2. Can we be united with people who don't believe in Jesus? How so? How not so?

TRY THIS:

Find a sharpie or a pen and write ONE on the back of your hand. Remember all day that anyone around you could be your brother/sister in Jesus one day! And that you might be the person who brings that person to Jesus through His power and grace!

Comments

  1. We are united with other people by the power of Holy Spirit who lives in each of us who believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died on the cross to take away our sins. Praise be to God!
