Proverbs 10:26-29 — ~Refuge~
READ THIS: Proverbs 10:26-29
26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so are sluggards to those who send them. 27 The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. 28 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. 29 The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.
This group of proverbs says something pretty clear. God sends us out into the world to do His work and to walk in His way. When we do that, we live a VERY different life from everyone else, and it also leads to eternal life. People who do not follow in God's way (and who do not jump to do His work because of who He is) end up living a life that isn't what it should be, and it is much shorter than it should be as well, in terms of eternity.
When we believe that God loves us and guides us for His glory and our benefit, then walking through life with Him is a refuge, a place of comfort. But when we don't believe that He has the best in mind for us, then we don't want to follow it, and His ways seem terrible and we don't want to follow them, leading to our ruin.
