Proverbs 2:12-15 — Again and again and again...

READ THIS: Proverbs 2:12-15

12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, 13 who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, 14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, 15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

In this passage, we learn about a lot of people that wisdom can help us avoid being influenced by! Here are the different types of people wisdom helps us avoid living like:
  • Wicked people (people who do not live for what is right)
  • People who speak poorly toward one another, whether that is being harsh or being manipulative
  • People who walk away from Jesus's way to walk their own ways
  • People who celebrate doing the wrong thing and praise things that go against Jesus
Whether we'd like to admit it or not, we have likely found ourselves looking a lot more like the people listed above than like wise people. Luckily for us, we are loved by a God who lets us try again, and again, and again! So if you need a reminder to leave the ways of the wicked behind and chase after Jesus, use this moment!

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Which of the bullet points do you struggle with the most? How can you leave that behind today?

2. Who is someone in your life that encourages you to walk wisely?
