Ephesians 5:3-7 — Sin Detectors
READ THIS: Ephesians 5:3-7
3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
Ever been to the airport? Before you can enter in, airports have people go through these special machines called detectors. They check people who come in to make sure no one brings anything dangerous into the building. They also have TSA workers that check peoples' bags for anything that goes against their rules and regulations.
If someone tries to go through with something they shouldn't, they get stopped by the workers, and sometimes they get kicked out... even if it is just a small amount, or a hint, of something illegal... see where I am headed?
Here, Paul says that for us to enter into the kingdom of Christ, we must not have a hint of sin within us. We can't expect to waltz into the kingdom of heaven if we are constantly making bad choices, if we are refusing to let go of idols, and if we are speaking foolishly. So how do we let go of this sinful baggage, so to speak? The answer is only found in Jesus. When God looks at us without Jesus, He sees sinful people who only deserve death. But when He looks at us with Jesus, He sees the sacrifice of His Son and lets us into His kingdom!
Yes! I had embroidery scissors in my stitching bag. They were less than 3/4” blades, but illegal never the less! I have been very aware since then! I had to mail them back to myself!
