READ THIS: Ephesians 5:19b-24

19b Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.  22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

While we praise and thank the Lord for all the good, we must go to Him during tough decisions. He has the answer we need to hear, but we need to trust that He will provide in the good AND bad times. However, we are called to more than JUST trust Him. We have to SUBMIT to Him...to yield to Him. In verse 22, we read that wives should submit to their husbands like they would to the Lord. This means the wife should trust their husband to make a decision because they are doing what leads them closer to God!

But this lesson isn't just for married people. We can do this with all the relationships we have, especially in our Christ-centered communities!! We have a community around us to support us in our walk with God! We choose the people in our community because they will help guide us in making decisions to glorify God!

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Who is someone you struggle submitting to? Why?

2. Who is someone that you know will help make decisions that glorify God?

If you haven't recently (or if you have), thank God for the community you have to support you! Don't stop there though! Thank people in your community for the support they have shown you!

Luke 8:19-21 — Jesus's Fam!

R EAD THIS:  Luke 8:19-21 19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” 21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY? Ummmm, hold up, is Jesus dissing on His family here? I mean, I know He is God's Son and all, but at first glance, this passage makes it seem like He is kind of hating on His family!
