Ephesians 3:20-21 — IMMEASURABLY more

READ THIS: Ephesians 3:20-21

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

This is the end of Paul's prayer, which we have been reading for the past few days. The whole prayer kind of follows a "God, them, God" format, where Paul first talks about God, then about the Ephesians, and then God again. 

When he talks about God here, Paul describes Him as incredibly capable. God is able to do so much more than anything we could dream up because He is powerful. In fact, He can do IMMEASURABLY more...as in it can't be measured how much more He can do. 

Because Paul understands that power, he knows that who God is deserves all the glory (glory=the highest honor). In fact, God is so incredible that the church should honor Him forever through Jesus! That's what Paul's saying!! 

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. What is the biggest prayer you have ever prayed in the past? How did God move or not move in that prayer?

2. Why do you think Paul/people might pray a God-them-God prayer?
 
TRY THIS:
 
Think about the biggest prayer you have right now. Now imagine God answering that prayer. Now think about what it means that God can do immeasurably more than that! More than you can ask...and more than you can imagine!

  1. I’m back people, where are the comments guys!?. I finished proverbs so now I can focus on this, I’m not sure about my biggest prayer but I I think that Paul does a “god, then, god” prayer to show the contrast of us against god which really shows just how amazing his love is for us and how great he is.

  2. So for me my biggest prayer was a long time ago. I was exposed to some topics and images at a young age (3rd grade ish I think) and I prayed sooooooo hard for God to help me get said images out of my head and to help me move past that and he was very involved and helped me through that process
