Ephesians 3:14-19 — Prayer = POWER

READ THIS: Ephesians 3:14-19

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

Prayer is powerful, and Paul prayed a lot. Some of his prayers, like this one here, were written in his letters to churches. In this one specifically, Paul prayed for:

  • God to give the believers in Ephesus strength through the Holy Spirit
  • Christ to dwell in the hearts of the people
  • The church of Ephesus to be rooted in Christ's love, and to (one day) fully understand how much God loves them!

Paul prayed for other people often, and he also asked people to pray for him a lot. He did this because he understood that God listens and answers prayers, and we should follow that example!

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. How often do you pray for the people around you? How often do you ask people to pray for you?

2. Can you think of a time God answered a prayer that you had?

Take some time to... you guessed it... pray! Think about each of the things Paul prayed for, and think of people you can pray for the same way!
