2 Timothy 3:12-14 — Follow Jesus frfr

READ THIS: 2 Timothy 3:12-14

12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

It's not just Paul who will deal with persecution...ANYONE who wants to follow Jesus for REAL will face persecution. It might look different in different places. In America, it's less about people killing Christians, and more about Christians getting made fun of and degraded, and their way of life being snubbed at. In the meantime, people who aren't following Jesus will get more and more caught up in sin and will get hurt by it.

For people trying to live a godly life, we can hold to that godliness by continuing to learn about Jesus and by diving into the Bible. A good way is also thinking about stuff you have learned about when you were little and rethinking it. Through doing those things, we can be more and more wise about what it means to be saved. Basically, it's having heart knowledge AND head knowledge about Jesus.

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Try to rethink something you learned when you were little. For example...the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible. Do you think that really happened? Why?

2. Do you feel more like a verse 12 person or a verse 13 person?

TRY THIS:

If you feel more like a verse 12 person, ask God for a chance to follow Him despite difficulties. If you feel more like a verse 13 person, ask God to show you one thing you could do differently today/tomorrow.

Comments

  1. Jesus, I want to be more like you every day and I know the only way I can is with your help. Please show me my weaknesses so I can become strong in You!
