Galatians 6:3-6 — Don't Forget Your Load, My Guy

 READ THIS: Galatians 6:3-6

3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

Yesterday we spoke about carrying each other's burdens, but today is about carrying our own load! We are for sure supposed to be supporting one another, but each person has a responsibility to stand on his/her own as well. We shouldn't think of ourselves as useless OR as the most important person. If we think of ourselves as part of a group of people working together, then we know how important it is to carry our own weight while also helping others and allowing others to help us! It's basically the idea of a group project where everyone does their part! We need to know what our specific role is, and do it, without worrying if everyone else is doing what we want them to and comparing how much everyone does all the time. All this being said, Paul kind of throws out in verse 6 that people who teach the Bible might need some extra support because they might not be able to make as much money as other people (lol).

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. What is a way that you carry your own load in your house? What's one of your roles?

2. Have you ever compared how much you do at home/at school/at work to how much someone else does? How does that end up making you feel?

TRY THIS:

If at some point today you feel yourself comparing yourself to someone, go up to that person you're comparing yourself to and say one of the following. 1) If you look at someone and think that they are so much better than you, go up and compliment them on whatever thing that they're doing great at. 2) If you look at someone and think that they are less than you, go up to that person and ask if there's something you can do to help them in a certain thing OR give them a true compliment about something good you've seen them do!
