Galatians 6:11-15 — JUST TO RECAP

 READ THIS: Galatians 6:11-15

11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!  12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

Fun fact, Paul liked to talk out loud and have someone else write down his letters. But, verse 11, he takes the pen for himself and starts writing. So, of course, he decided to go back and talk about what's been making him so upset this whole time--the Judaizers who told the believers that they should get circumcised "so they could really be saved." But this time in verse 12, Paul even says that circumcision was being pushed so that the Judaizers could avoid persecution for being a Christian, along with being able to be prideful about following the Law better than other people...even though they weren't even following the Law well.

Paul then finishes up that thought by saying he only wants to have pride in Jesus and what He has done! The only thing that can make him boast is that Jesus made him totally new!!

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. What is something that you're kind of proud of? How can you give credit to Jesus for that thing?

2. Why do you think Paul was writing in "large letters?"

TRY THIS:

Write in large letters a prayer to Jesus about your answers to question 1!
