Galatians 5:16-18 —Me Day vs Spirit Day

READ THIS: Galatians 5:16-18

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
 
WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

We talked yesterday about how important it is to love one another and to avoid just doing stuff to please our own selves all the time...but how do we do that? Paul says here that we can do that by walking by the Spirit! The Holy Spirit wants good, godly things even when we as humans want some things that are less than godly. That tension we feel when we want to do something that isn't okay is the Spirit fighting back against our flesh/our human desires. And what's so cool is that we don't need to read the Law or the Ten Commandments every second of every day to figure out what to do, but instead we can listen to the Spirit who guides us every day! 

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. When's a time that you really wanted to do something but you felt uneasy about doing it? Do you think that was the Holy Spirit or something else?

2. If you had a day where you could do whatever YOU wanted, no Holy Spirit or God or Jesus or Church or anything, what would that day look like? What would it look like if the Holy Spirit directed the whole day instead? Which day do you want more?
 
TRY THIS:

Pray that today or tomorrow you would be able to hear the Holy Spirit in a very clear way throughout the day so that you might be guided by Him!

    since i’m not coming today i wanted to leave a sign of life for y’all so let’s have a chat a really good example was at the rodeo a week or 2 ago so i’m scared of like heights not as much anymore but like this ride was 250 feet in the air and spinning upside down and i was like nuh uh im not going on that. my cousins went on that and they came down and they were all talking about how they thought they were gonna fall of so the holy spirit gave me the nudge not to go on the ride and maybe something bad would’ve happened with me their idk. tbh idk what a day without the holy spirit would look like ig it would just look the same but more dumb decisions that won’t get stopped. alrighty too da loo miss y’all

Luke 8:19-21 — Jesus's Fam!

R EAD THIS:  Luke 8:19-21 19 Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” 21 He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY? Ummmm, hold up, is Jesus dissing on His family here? I mean, I know He is God's Son and all, but at first glance, this passage makes it seem like He is kind of hating on His family!
