Galatians 5:13-15 — The Best Gift EVER

READ THIS: Galatians 5:13-15

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

GUYS! GREAT NEWS! JESUS SET US FREE FROM SIN! THAT MEANS WE CAN DO ANYTHING WE WANT NOW... RIGHT?!

.......right??? Oh.......

God's grace, shown through Jesus dying for us, is the most beautiful gift ever given. It means that no matter how broken we are, how many times we mess up, and how far away we feel from Jesus, we will always be met with love, forgiveness, and eternal life if we believe in Him. BUT, that doesn't mean we should abuse that gift! If we are truly set free from sin and the law, we should be living like it, and that will show up in how we live our lives. Paul says that we shouldn't use our freedom to get whatever we want out of the world. Instead, we must take the same love and grace that Jesus gave us and start giving it to one another! That is how we can live out the greatest commandment, loving our neighbor as ourselves.

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. Do you ever feel like it's okay to do something wrong since you know Jesus will just forgive you?

2. Can you think of a time where you were more focused on biting and devouring your neighbor (check out verse 15) than loving your neighbor? What is something you can do to love that person better today?

TRY THIS:

It's our job to live out the greatest commandment every day with one another. Find a way to show grace and/or love to someone around you today, and when you're done, thank Jesus for showing us what grace and love look like! (Remember...grace is giving something to someone that they didn't earn and don't deserve)
