Galatians 4:28-31 — Christ's Fam

READ THIS: Galatians 4:28-31

28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

WHAT’S THIS MEAN, ANYWAY?

It's important to know the family you are a part of, whether you were born into it or adopted into it. There are certain things your family does, certain things they say, and certain ways they live that make them your family. Being a part of a family also means you are a representative of your family. In our world, people see the way someone acts, and they don't just make judgements about that person, but they also make judgements about where the person comes from and that person's family.

So what does it mean that we are children of "the free woman?" It means that we are all adopted into God's family... we are His children! That means we must live a certain way (living like Jesus), and it means that we are representatives of Christ (check out 2 Cor. 5:20). You may be the only Christian someone knows... do they see Jesus through you? Do they see the freedom that comes from being a part of Jesus' family?

THINK ABOUT IT:

1. What is one thing that your family says, does, etc. that makes your family unique?

2. Do you feel like you represent Jesus well everywhere you go? What is one thing you can do today to represent Christ in a better way?

TRY THIS:

One way to represent Christ well, no matter where you are, is by loving and caring for people like Jesus does! Your challenge today is to do one random kind gesture to someone, whether it's big or small!

  1. 🎶“And they’ll know we are Christians by our love”🎶 as the song says! We not only have to think about loving on each other we have to DO IT!!! Do it today!
